Olivia Rodrigo Sour Tour- Atlanta- Baby Honey Apparel

 May 9, 2022

Before the show, everyone was required to show proof of COVID vaccination.

This concert took place at the Coca-Cola Roxy in Atlanta, Georgia.

This concert was SUPER special to me because it was my first time going to a concert without my mom and it was my first time driving out of state without my parents. I was super lucky to be going with one of my best friends, Maddy, who I met 3 years before at a summer camp. We had talked about going to a concert together for YEARS… and it was finally time! When I purchased these tickets in December, my first thought was to bring Maddy along, and I did! We counted down the days until it was finally time for her to make the drive from Bristol, Tennessee (where she lives) to Knoxville, Tennessee (where I live)… then we were off to Atlanta! We ended up staying in a hotel nearby and planned on getting into the camping line at midnight… but instead, we decided to take a quick power nap and ended up arriving to the venue at around 1:10am. After we found the fan-made line (located behind the venue), we got our numbered wristbands- we were number 149 & 150 in line. This was both of our first times camping for a concert so we were very unprepared for the weather. At around 3:45am we were freezing cold, so we decided to make the short walk back to the hotel and changed into warmer clothes… and that’s when I checked my Instagram story viewers and saw that Holly Humberstone (the opening act) viewed my story- how crazy?!?!

After several hours of laying on the cold pavement in the streets of Atlanta, the venue security escorted the line to the front of the building at around 8am, and by 8:15am we had our official wristbands from the venue, and had our COVID vaccination cards checked. The process was very smooth! We had made friends with the people around us in the line, so we all took turns leaving the line for food, water, and bathroom breaks.

Around lunch time, we decided to go back to the hotel and change into our concert outfits and we stopped by a restaurant on the walk back and grabbed a quick bite to eat. As we were passing the front of the venue, we saw Holly Humberstone taking pictures with fans as she was making her way inside. Unfortunately, we were about ten seconds too late- by the time we got to the gate, security was closing it behind her and we were unable to say hello :( maybe next time though! We were also able to see Olivia walk out of her tour bus and into the venue!

Around 6:00pm, security started to line us up to get into the venue. As we were lining up, Olivia’s tour photographer, Don, took a picture of our group… how cool! Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see the picture- but here’s one we took!

At 7:00pm, the doors were opened and we were let into the venue! As we made our way into the venue, we quickly realized how close we would be to the stage- so of course we had a little silent scream/freak out moment together! We ended up being in the third row behind the barricade on the left side (facing the stage) and we stayed with three people from our group in the line. We camped a total of twenty hours for this spot, and it was so worth it!

The night started out with the opening act, Holly Humberstone! I LOVE Holly’s music and had been a fan for quite some time before this show- so when I saw that she was opening for the SOUR Tour I was even more excited. I enjoyed singing along to her songs and watching her own the stage- did you know she did all the music herself for this show? She did an amazing job at switching between the keys and guitar all while singing! I am already looking forward to watching Holly preform again!

While waiting for Olivia to come on stage, the fans started singing Taylor Swift’s “All too Well (10 Minute Version)” together, and it was truly an amazing experience. I really enjoyed listening to Olivia’s pre-show playlist! I especially enjoyed Harry Styles’ new song, “As It Was”! It was the first time I had heard it with a group of people since its release, and I enjoyed singing it in the crowd!

When One Direction’s “Olivia” came on, that’s when we knew the show was starting and we were SO ready! The show started with teasing Olivia’s song “brutal”, and then the curtains ripped open to reveal Olivia! We screamed, danced, and cried- and had the absolute time of our lives! Olivia had a fantastic stage presence, and really knew how to put on a show! She had outfit changes, included the crowd, and I loved hearing the stories behind the songs! And I felt like the confetti cannons at the end of “good 4 u” were a nice touch, and a great way to end the show!
